Ashanti Shequoiya Doug, better known in the media as Ashanti was born on October 13, 1981 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a popular American musician, singer and actress. Ashanti became famous as an 18-year-old and was signing with Murder Inc. Records in 2002. The same year, she was featured in the Fat Joe's What's Luv? The singer also appeared on the Fat Joe's hit song"What's Luv?" Her first appearance as a female artist to take the top two spots on Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at number one, and The song What's Luv? She became the first female artist to hold both top two spots in the Billboard Hot 100 in America and with the number one spot held by Foolish. one and the other being What's Loving? at number 2. her special day right here. Ashanti Douglas, or Ashanti as she is more commonly known was born at Glen Cove New York in the year 1980. Tina Douglas' mother was teacher of dance, and Ken-Kaide Douglas, the mother of Ashanti Douglas is also a singer. Kenashia Shia is her older sibling. Douglas named her Ashanti to honor Ghana's Ashanti Empire that was where women ruled and had power and influence. Douglas wanted Ashantis to follow this paradigm. James was her grandpa. He worked as an advocate for civil rights alongside Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960s. Ashanti's mom was amazed by her talent when she heard her sing Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Ashanti performed as a child as a child in the film of Spike Lee Malcolm X (1992) and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? Additionally, she was featured in numerous music videos including K.R.S. Act One's MCs Don't They're Not a Good Idea or the 8-Off Ghetto Girls. After being wooed by a variety of record labels including Bad Boy and Jive Ashanti was unable to make it in her career as a performer. Ashanti continued to sing throughout New York, and spent her time in Murder Inc. studios hoping for a big break. Ashanti was first seen in the role of background vocalist for Big Pun on the song "How We Roll". Ashanti also sang on Fat Joe's song What's Luv? and Ja Rule's Always on Time. Her sample for the single that she released as her debut Foolish was taken from DeBarge's with Me, a 1983 track. Ashanti's self-titled first album was released in 2002 through Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. record label. The Declaration is Ashanti's forth studio album. The album was made available by Murder Inc. on the 3rd of June, 2008. On the 16th October Hey Baby (After the Club) was released on stations and digital platforms. She also starred in the film Christmas in the City, Army Wives and Latasha Monteclair. Aitch, a British musician, sampled her track Rock wit U for Baby 10 March 2022.
